Our Story,
Since 1988
Rooted in humble beginnings, ASD’s story is one of growth, connection, and the enduring power of education to unite cultures and inspire future generations.
The American International School (AIS), now known as the American School of Doha (ASD), opened for Grades 1 to 5 in a small villa in Doha.
AIS relocated from a small villa to a new purpose-built campus, offering classes up to Grade 8.
AIS received accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
AIS had its first graduating class.
AIS changed its name to American School of Doha, and enrolment reached 500 students.
The new ASD campus opened in Al Bustan.
Middle and High School buildings were built; Elementary School was renovated to accommodate growth.
ASD completed the 4-year campus improvement project (new ES Library, Learners Pool, Gym, MS/HS Gym, and MS Science wing).
Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup, where selected ASD students acted as flag bearers and player escorts.
ASD celebrated 35 years.
