Faculty Benefits

Faculty at the American School of Doha (ASD) are amongst the top echelon of education professionals and are dedicated to the intellectual and professional development of our students. All overseas-hired faculty receive benefits comprising:

Contract

Faculty are engaged through an initial contract term of two years.

Base Salary
Base Salary

Minimum starting salary of USD 50,000 to maximum starting salary of USD 62,000 per annum. Salary is awarded based on years of experience with a maximum entry point designated at step six within the faculty salary schedule. Qatar does not have a personal income tax. Faculty can increment annually through the salary schedule up to step twenty.

Advanced Degree Stipend
Advanced Degree Stipend

An annual stipend of US$2,750.00 is provided to faculty members who hold an advanced degree (master's or higher) in a field of study directly related to their area of teaching.

Housing
Housing

ASD provides housing in a purpose-built, modern residential compound located near the school campus and the city. Accommodation is allocated based on household size, comprising:

  • A two- or three-bedroom apartment or a four-bedroom villa.
  • All units come with basic furnishings.
  • Electricity and water usage costs are covered by the school.
Dependent Tuition
Dependent Tuition

Faculty tuition benefit applies as follows:

  • Single teacher – up to two authorised dependents to attend ASD
  • Teaching couple – up to three authorised dependents to attend ASD
Insurances
Insurances

Faculty are provided with major international medical insurance including dental and vision coverage as well as life and disability insurance.

Retirement
Retirement

ASD offers a range of retirement options to staff. U.S. citizens can elect to contribute to the school’s 401(k) plan. Alternately, faculty can contribute to a retirement fund where ASD contributes 10% of base salary annually. Employees make a minimum co-contribution of 2%.

Annual Airfare and Leave
Annual Airfare and Leave

Annual economy airfare allowance is provided to the home of record for the faculty member and legally authorized dependents. In addition, generous leave entitlements are also available.

Relocation
Relocation

Contribution toward shipping of personal effects is provided at commencement and conclusion of employment. Additionally, a relocation allowance is paid upon arrival at ASD.

Car Loan
Car Loan

New faculty members can avail themselves of an interest-free car loan of USD 15,000 per family.
